16th Nov 2006

Nov 16th 2006… A little guy (not so little actually, appears to b little) with a clean shave and a neat dress walked out of a hostel in Ameerpet (I don’t know y it is called ‘Ameer’pet,it never appears to b so rich to me). One more thing, if u want to find ur lost friend whoz in search of a job just stand at Maithrivanam , Ameerpet. I bet u’ll definitely catch him there.

Aaah… back to the little guy…he took an auto (not to mention, a share auto) to HitechCity . Yes you guessed it right, he was on for an interview in a MNC. It was his 16th attempt and has a habit of missing out in the final round. He reached the interview location, completed the formalities and entered into the company. Itz a very beautiful building (every damn company appears to be biiiiiig and beautiful until u get a job and work for that same company).Nearly 100 candidates were ready to take up the challenge. FYI: Every candidate, other than us, appears to be much brilliant.

Getting into the interview process, first round, as usual is a written test. It lasted for an hour and the HR guy informed that the results would be announced at 2pm. Our little guy went back to hostel and revised C-programs for Fibonacci series, Searching and Sorting, and String reversal (any fresher attending an interview keeps these programs handy). Finally he got a call saying you have cleared the written test and get back to the company as soon as possible. By the time he reached there the other candidates were still waiting for the results. The HR guy asked our little guy and one more gal (I keep forgetting these gals names :-) ) to stay back.

Second round was a technical round. While the lil guy was waiting for his turn the gal walked out of the company. The technical round lasted for almost 40mnts. By the time he finished that round, he was lost in an infinite for loop :( . The HR guy brought him back to the real world and asked him to get ready for the third round (a HR round). The HR round was bit of a relief since all of them were stock questions . (Tell abt urself..strengths..weaknesses..longterm goal ..blah blah blah..). After 30 minutes , the interviewer gave a form and asked to fill it out. By this time our lil guy was almost sure that he is through the selection process.

Then the HR guy and the interviewer came and congratulated him and said that you are the only guy selected today and will receive the offer letter as soon as possible. The package would be abc000(Itz confidential ;-) ).By that time, our lil guy was on top of the world(though he knows that hez not the first guy to get a job in his friend circle.)

What else…as usual first call to parents and second call to girl friend.

One year passed, 16th Nov 2007. Our little fellow is writing this blog. In this one year of Software life he has learnt one important thing.

“Never say that your product has a bug. Though it is bug, you call it a known issue and you can handle that in the next release”.

Guys , get back to work.

Luv n Pain

I don’t know how to start this post. This is not a thought provoking one because my thoughts never provoke anyone. I’m just trying to pen down (type down, to be precise) my feelings. I’m missing her. Yes, I’m missing her badly.

I know her from my schooldays. I loved her (na na.. 'attracted' by her) when I was in my +2 . I loved her (I’m sure , 'loved' is the right word here) when I was in my btech. Finally, I proposed her when I felt I 'can' settle in life. She refused gently.

She likes me but she doesn’t love me. I need her to be 'in' my life .But she just wants to be by my side. She doesn't hate me but she doesn't love me either.I hate myself for not being her love. I know I’m running out of time to win her love. But I can do nothing more than simply loving her. I heard convincing a girl is 'little' difficult. Thatz not true..itz toooooooo difficult. I’ll wait for her till the last possible moment, not sure what that moment would be.I don’t say, I can’t live without her. But life would be more beautiful with her.

In the bouquet of my friends there is a flower

Which has the sweetest smell, the brightest color

And the prettiest look of all

A touch of it takes away all my sorrows

A look at it makes me feel happy

Itz there with me in all my evens and odds till now . But I’m missing the flower now.

Luv U … my sweet little kid (she always likes if I call her “sweet little kid”)

Finally, thanks for reading this nonsense. I call it nonsense because love makes no sense if it doesn't succeed.

మీ కోసం..

Hi all , back after a long time.. so howz it going? hmm busy with the software jobs.. huh ? Hope u people liked my last post "Small gestures really mean a lot".. So watz next? "Big gestures doesn't mean anything" na na na... don t worry thatz not the topic..

How many of u like telugu?..a weird question huh?..i'm sure most of the people luv their mother tongue..but the problem with these corporate jobs is we r forced to talk in a language which calls a beautiful girl as "miss" whom v never wanna miss. The advent of internet and E-mail made us to write the letter in english as well.

Now,for the people who r eager to send an E-mail in telugu, here is the site which i just came across. Check out the site "http://lekhini.org/".This provides a platform where u can write a telugu word in english which is converted into telugu ..confused? For example "elaa unnAv" is converted as "ఎలా ఉన్నావ్". I'm not sure whether most of u know abt this site or not,but this is an interesting one for those who love telugu. There may b other sites as well. This is a free one, u can type anything there and copy n paste wherever(I'm not sure whether i can use "wherever") u want..

In the beginning it wud b difficult to cope up with the words.. But as u go on it wud b pretty easy.On the right hand side of the site u will b having a table which provides telugu letters with an equivalent english letter. The site has got a gud Help text as well.

small gestures really mean a lot.

Hi all, this is my first post ,impressed by my friends Rajen n Vamsi I’m posting this one. So whatz the topic then? Cricket..preparations for the WC 2007, downfall of aussies, Bengal tiger roaring again, teams concerned about the fitness problems,.. oh! No.. there are hell lot of articles in the news papers about these topics. So keep them aside. Letz talk something more general.

There are certain situations where little gestures from you are more effective than words. Gestures in the sense.. a gentle smile, blink of an eye, a pat on the back, rise of an eyebrow.. something like that. And mind you, the meaning of these gestures depends on the context of situations.

Think of a situation where you are standing in a queue in front of an ATM. You are waiting for the person inside to come out. Suddenly a man comes from behind and enters into the ATM even before the man inside comes out of it. Thatz really irritating right? Feels like blasting his face with ur fist… oops no violence.. now just give him a wild smile and I bet you, that will be much more irritating to him.. he will definitely think of it when he faces such situation again.

Similarly there are many other situations where you need to use these gestures. I ‘m saying it again the meaning of these gestures depends on the context of situations. I’ll end this post by quoting a scene from the movie I-Robot. There is a scene where the hero blinks an eye to his colleague. The robot sees that and asks the hero, “What does that mean?” The hero replies “Itz a human thing. You machines can’t understand that. It means “Trust”.” So small gestures really mean a lot.

Javascript Libraries

Today, I was thinking of developing a webpage that is very interactive.
Yes interactive. It's all about user interface baby!
If you are developing a web-based application then most probable technologies you would come across are Javascript(AJAX - using which I did my project in B.Tech), flash animations.

I wouldn't go for flash if I 'm asked to develop such applications. Instead I'll choose Javascript. Why? If you worked on internet technologies - HTML, CSS then I can be damn sure that you've a knowledge of Javascript. Flash is something separate. It's a product.

Almost all browsers (as I read it in books) come with javascript support. But, in order to use flash we need flash plug-in of course which is free.

Ok leave that stuff. I googled with the keywords "Javascript library". As usual I got lot of websites. I went to www.script.aculo.us from the results in the first page. It has got a nice front-page. You may think that all that work was done using flash. But not. Its through javascript. It provides a library(a .zip file) to download that contains a list of javascript files with the necessary functions declared in each. We can call these functions after including these scripts in our web-page. The web site has nice documentation and demos (http://wiki.script.aculo.us/scriptaculous/show/CombinationEffectsDemo).

I even visited YUI - Yahoo User Interface library site. YUI is huge.

All these libraries can be useful when you are developing web-apps.

Happy browsing!
